BAKU, Azerbaijan, August 10. On August 10,
Prime Minister of the Republic of Lithuania Mindaugas Sinkevičius
made a phone call to President of the Republic of Azerbaijan Ilham
Aliyev.


This was reported on the official website of the President of
Azerbaijan.During the conversation, the sides hailed the positive
dynamics in the development of relations between Azerbaijan and
Lithuania in recent years. In this context, they recalled the visit
of former Prime Minister of the Republic of Lithuania Inga
Ruginienė to Azerbaijan in April and the discussions she held with
President Ilham Aliyev.


The head of state congratulated Mindaugas Sinkevičius on his
election as Prime Minister.


Mindaugas Sinkevičius thanked the President for his
congratulations and stated that, as Prime Minister, he would
continue to pay close attention to the development of bilateral
relations.


During the conversation, the sides discussed cooperation between
Azerbaijan and Lithuania in the energy sector, particularly in the
field of energy security, as well as prospects for increasing trade
turnover.


The Prime Minister of Lithuania congratulated President Ilham
Aliyev on the anniversary of the Washington Peace Summit and the
agreements reached there.


The head of state thanked him for the congratulations.


The sides also discussed Azerbaijan–European Union relations,
noting that the high-level contacts in recent times have made a
substantial contribution to the development of cooperation.
Lithuania's consistent support for the advancement of Azerbaijan's
cooperation with the European Union was emphasized.


President Ilham Aliyev and Prime Minister Mindaugas Sinkevičius
also exchanged views on the current situation in the international
arena.
