BAKU, Azerbaijan, August 10. World-renowned
photojournalist Reza Deghati met with young people during an event
held in East Zangazur as part of the 7th Summer Camp for Diaspora
Youth. The acclaimed photographer presented photographs he had
taken over many years in different regions around the world.
The presentation featured photographs depicting the customs,
traditions, daily lives and cultural diversity of different
peoples, as well as images documenting military operations in
various countries. The photographs made a deep impression on the
young participants.
A major part of the presentation focused on images documenting
the destruction of Azerbaijani territories during the period of
Armenian occupation. Through the lens of his camera, Deghati
presented cities and villages reduced to ruins, destroyed examples
of historical and cultural heritage, as well as the lasting wounds
left by the Karabakh conflict on people's lives.
Masim Mammadov, the special representative of the President of
the Republic of Azerbaijan in the Lachin district, thanked Reza
Deghati for the outstanding presentation and emphasized that such
meetings make an important contribution to strengthening young
people's ties to their homeland.
The young participants expressed their appreciation for
Deghati's efforts to convey Azerbaijan's realities, the country's
historical memory and its national and cultural heritage to the
international community.
The 7th Summer Camp for Diaspora Youth, organized jointly by the
State Committee on Work with Diaspora of the Republic of Azerbaijan
and the Heydar Aliyev Foundation, was held from Aug. 2 to 8 and
brought together 123 young people from 64 countries. Previous camps
held in Shaki, Shamakhi, Shusha, Nakhchivan, Lachin and Khankendi
were attended by more than 700 young people from 84 countries in
total.
