Yemen’s Ansar Allah movement, also known as the Houthis, attacked a Saudi Arabian vessel carrying military equipment in the Bab el-Mandeb Strait, one of the world’s key international maritime routes, Reuters reports.
A day earlier, the Houthis also struck a commercial vessel with a ballistic missile in the Bab el-Mandeb Strait, killing three crew members.
At the end of July, Ansar Allah, which controls northern Yemen, officially announced a naval blockade of Saudi Arabia. The move came in response to a strike by the Saudi-backed coalition on Sana’a airport.
