An armed gang in Egypt stole 105 kilograms of frozen chicken from a moving truck on the Cairo–Ismailia highway, Al-Khaleej reports, citing local police.

The incident, which was captured on video, resembles a scene from the Hollywood blockbuster Fast & Furious.

It shows two men clinging to the hood of a pickup truck and transferring boxes of goods from the moving truck while it was travelling at full speed.

The truck driver, who was transporting around four tonnes of poultry, discovered the theft only after stopping.

Police launched an investigation on their own initiative, without a complaint from the transport company, and traced the six-member gang, all of whom had previous criminal convictions. They were tracked down and arrested in Cairo and Qalyubia.

The suspects opened fire on police during the arrests. Three gang members were killed in the ensuing shootout, while the other three were arrested. Police seized assault rifles, shotguns and a pickup truck from the suspects.

The fate of the arrested suspects will be decided by a court.
