Polish Prime Minister Donald Tusk has called on the West to continue supporting Ukraine, saying that Ukraine’s fate is the West’s fate during events marking the 87th anniversary of the outbreak of World War II at Westerplatte.
According to him, the coming autumn and winter could prove crucial for Ukraine’s independence and Poland’s security, Caliber.Az reports, citing Polish media.
“It is the responsibility of the entire West to say: Ukraine’s fate is also our fate in the near future,” the Polish Prime Minister noted.
Tusk urged the West not to repeat the mistakes of the past and to avoid a policy of concessions in the face of threats.
He also stressed that the lessons of World War II should serve as the basis for unity among Europe, the United States and NATO.
“This cannot be an alliance only on paper,” he added.
