A man armed with a shovel attacked parishioners and medics near the Church of the Holy Myrrh-Bearing Women on Belorechenskaya Street in Moscow before being shot by a passerby, emergency officials have said.
They noted that the incident occurred at around 9:50 a.m. Moscow time near the church, Caliber.Az reports, citing Russian media.
The man who fired at the attacker was reportedly detained.
A medical worker injured in the incident was hospitalised.
The attacker was reportedly registered with a psychoneurological clinic.
