A US Air Force surveillance balloon was shot down by an Iranian drone over Erbil in Iraq’s Kurdistan Region.
The incident occurred over the city, which is home to the US Consulate and a coalition military base. This is the first reported case of an American surveillance asset being destroyed by Iranian forces in the region.
