Armenia and Iran are set to introduce simplified customs control procedures at their shared border after the Armenian government approved a draft protocol on the arrangements.
Under the proposed system, customs authorities in one country will electronically provide their counterparts in the neighbouring country with information on goods and their consignors when cargo is being sent across the border, Caliber.Az reports, citing foreign media.
The receiving country will then inspect the cargo under simplified procedures.
The new regime will apply to all vehicles except private cars. The measure is intended to speed up cargo clearance and the passage of vehicles across the Armenian-Iranian border.
