Russia’s chargé d’affaires in the UK categorically rejected London’s accusations over the Leipzig incident after being summoned to the British Foreign Office.
According to RIA Novosti, the Russian Embassy described London’s accusations as unsubstantiated and absurd.
The Russian representative called the incident in Leipzig a “coordinated provocation beneficial only to Kyiv and its sponsors.”
He warned that any escalatory steps by the West would receive an adequate and carefully calibrated response.
The incident in question took place at Leipzig/Halle Airport on August 4, when a drone carrying explosives was discovered near a Ukrainian aircraft, prompting a security operation and an investigation by German authorities.
Berlin has since accused Russia of orchestrating the attempted attack, citing similarities between the drone and tactics allegedly used in previous Russian hybrid operations.
Moscow has strongly denied the allegations, calling them fabricated and politically motivated.
Germany has responded by announcing measures against Russian diplomatic and cultural facilities and seeking further EU sanctions, while the UK has backed Berlin’s position and summoned Russia’s chargé d’affaires.
