Turkish intelligence chief Ibrahim Kalin visited Athens last week and held talks with his Greek counterpart, Themistoklis Demiris.
Kalin, who heads Türkiye’s National Intelligence Organization (MIT), met with Demiris, director of Greece’s National Intelligence Service (EYP). The two intelligence chiefs had previously met in Ankara.
According to Greek government sources, the talks focused on developments in the southeastern Mediterranean, as well as the situations in Syria and Libya and tensions in relations between Türkiye and Israel.
The meeting took place amid heightened political tensions between Greece and Türkiye. However, the officials said Kalin did not arrive in Athens with any ultimatum or specific demands.
Instead, the talks reportedly reflected a mutual desire to keep bilateral relations stable and prevent existing disagreements from escalating.
