Secretary General of the Parliamentary Assembly of Turkic States (TURKPA) Ramil Hasan has held a meeting with a delegation led by President of the OSCE Parliamentary Assembly (OSCE PA) Pere Joan Pons Sampietro, during which the sides discussed bilateral cooperation established in 2010, as well as other issues of mutual interest.
They exchanged views on TURKPA’s efforts to obtain observer status in the OSCE PA, the vote on the issue at the European organization’s annual session held in The Hague in July, and subsequent steps, Caliber.Az reports, citing local media.
The meeting also covered the parliamentary elections held in Kazakhstan.
Sampietro expressed satisfaction with cooperation with TURKPA and said they would provide all possible support for the organization’s further activities as part of the development of parliamentary diplomacy, which prioritises democratic values that promote mutual dialogue.
Both Pons and Hasan emphasised that more active participation by their respective delegations in future activities would contribute to advancing their common interests.
Pons expressed appreciation for the warm reception and said that the OSCE PA was pleased with its cooperation with TURKPA.
Hasan stressed the importance of joint engagement and participation in common activities and projects, noting that these were among the key factors contributing to shared interests.
The meeting was also attended by OSCE PA Vice President and Special Representative for the South Caucasus Luís Graça, Deputy Secretaries General of the TURKPA International Secretariat Talgat Aduov and Muhammet Alper Hayali, and Secretary of the TURKPA Commission Aynura Abutalibova.
