Pakistani security forces killed three militants during a counterterrorism operation in the Mir Ali area of North Waziristan district in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa province, state broadcaster PTV reported on September 30, citing security sources.

The forces targeted militant hideouts linked to what Pakistani authorities call “Fitna al-Khawarij,” a term used for the banned Tehrik-e-Taliban Pakistan (TTP), according to the sources.

Weapons and ammunition were recovered from the site following the operation.

Security forces also foiled an attempt by militants to hijack a truck carrying food supplies in the Mir Ali bazaar area, the sources said.

The operation was conducted as part of Pakistan’s national counterterrorism campaign, Azm-e-Istehkam.
