BAKU, Azerbaijan, October 19. Uzbekistan and
Kyrgyzstan discussed strengthening their strategic partnership,
expanding trade and advancing regional energy and transportation
projects during a meeting between Uzbek President Shavkat
Mirziyoyev and Kyrgyz Foreign Minister Jeenbek Kulubayev in
Samarkand on October 19.

This was reflected in the statement by the press service of the
Uzbek president, following a meeting on the sidelines of the C5+1
foreign ministers’ meeting. Kulubayev conveyed greetings and best
wishes to Mirziyoyev from Kyrgyz President Sadyr Japarov.

The sides reviewed prospects for further strengthening bilateral
relations based on friendship, good-neighborly ties and
alliance.

Particular attention was paid to implementing agreements reached
during Mirziyoyev’s state visit to Kyrgyzstan in July 2026.

The officials welcomed continued growth in bilateral trade,
cooperation between major companies and regional authorities, and
progress on major regional projects in the energy and
transportation sectors.

Additionally, they emphasized the importance of adopting a plan
for cultural and humanitarian activities and interregional
exchanges for 2027.

The two sides exchanged views on current issues affecting
cooperation across Central Asia.

The C5+1 format brings together the United States and five
Central Asian countries — Kazakhstan, Kyrgyzstan, Tajikistan,
Turkmenistan and Uzbekistan — to discuss regional cooperation and
shared economic and security priorities. The B5+1 platform
facilitates dialogue between businesses and governments in Central
Asia.
