BAKU, Azerbaijan, August 4. Qatar's Emir Sheikh
Tamim bin Hamad Al Thani and U.S. President Donald Trump discussed
efforts to reduce tensions between Washington and Tehran during a
phone call.
The information was released by the Emir's press office.
"During the call, they reviewed the latest regional
developments, particularly the efforts to de-escalate tensions
between the United States and the Islamic Republic of Iran and to
bridge their differences, thereby enhancing the prospects for a
sustainable diplomatic solution to the crisis," the press office
said.
The two leaders reviewed the regional situation, with particular
focus on de-escalating tensions between the United States and Iran.
In their view, bringing the two countries' positions closer could
help pave the way for a lasting diplomatic settlement.
According to the statement, Trump praised Qatar's mediating role
and its contribution to supporting dialogue between the parties.
The Emir, for his part, stressed the importance of continuing
negotiations and adhering to the provisions of the U.S.-Iran
memorandum of understanding.
The two leaders also reaffirmed their commitment to continued
coordination on regional and international issues.
