BAKU, Azerbaijan, August 5. Turkmenistan and
the International Parliamentarians Congress (IPC) discussed
expanding interparliamentary cooperation and regional legislative
dialogue
This was reflected in a statement published by the Embassy of
Turkmenistan in Islamabad following a meeting between Turkmen
Ambassador to Pakistan Atadjan Movlamov met and IPC
Secretary-General Senator Sitara Ayaz.
"The parties placed particular emphasis on strengthening
interparliamentary engagement, expanding dialogue among
parliamentarians across the region, and fostering institutional
cooperation between the Mejlis of Turkmenistan and the IPC," the
statement said.
According to the embassy, the sides discussed prospects for
organizing international conferences, roundtable discussions and
parliamentary forums involving lawmakers from Central Asian
countries.
The discussions also focused on promoting parliamentary
diplomacy, exchanging legislative best practices and developing
coordinated approaches to regional and global challenges.
The two sides reaffirmed their commitment to maintaining regular
dialogue and implementing joint initiatives aimed at strengthening
interparliamentary relations and regional cooperation, the
statement added.
The International Parliamentarians Congress (IPC), headquartered
in Islamabad, is an independent platform that brings together
lawmakers from national parliaments to promote parliamentary
diplomacy and cooperation on issues including trade, investment,
climate change, food security and regional connectivity. The
organization has expanded its international profile in recent
years, obtaining observer status in bodies such as the Asian
Parliamentary Assembly, the Parliamentary Union of the OIC Member
States and the Non-Aligned Movement Parliamentary Network.
