BAKU, Azerbaijan, August 5. Pakistan has
expressed its gratitude to Azerbaijan for consistent support of
Islamabad's position on the issue of Jammu and Kashmir on the
international platforms, Ambassador of Pakistan Gasim Mohiuddin
said during the event dedicated to the Day of Exploitation
(Youm-e-Istehsal), as a sign of solidarity with the people of Jammu
and Kashmir, held at the Embassy of Pakistan in Baku, Trend's correspondent
reports from the event.


Speaking at the event, Mohiuddin thanked Azerbaijan for
"principled support" for Pakistan's position on the Kashmir
issue.


"The government of Pakistan and I personally, as well as every
Pakistani, are deeply grateful to Azerbaijan for its constant
support at all international platforms, as well as at the bilateral
level, at the UN and the Organization of Islamic Cooperation. We
highly appreciate this principled position, which calls for an end
to the illegal occupation of the territories of Jammu and Kashmir
by India. We are sincerely grateful for this," the ambassador
said.


According to the diplomat, Pakistan will continue to provide
diplomatic and moral support to the residents of the territory of
Jammu and Kashmir (IIOJK). He also urged the international
community to pay more attention to the humanitarian component of
the conflict.


"This is not only a political issue, but also a humanitarian
one. People's lives and their human dignity are at stake," he said,
calling on media representatives to cover the situation more
widely.


Earlier during the event, a statement was read in which Pakistan
reaffirmed its support for the right of the people of Jammu and
Kashmir to self-determination and called on the international
community, in particular the United Nations, to assist in the
peaceful resolution of the conflict.


The event was attended by representatives of the diplomatic
corps, government institutions, academic circles, civil society,
and media organizations.
