BAKU, Azerbaijan, August 5. Kazakhstan’s
Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary to Qatar Bakyt
Batyrshayev has presented his credentials to Emir of Qatar Sheikh
Tamim bin Hamad Al Thani.
According to the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of the Republic of
Kazakhstan, during the ceremony, Sheikh Tamim congratulated the
Kazakh ambassador on the start of his diplomatic mission and wished
him success in his work aimed at further strengthening friendly and
strategic partnership relations between the two countries.
Batyrshayev conveyed warm greetings and best wishes from
Kazakhstan’s President Kassym-Jomart Tokayev and reaffirmed his
readiness to contribute to the further expansion of comprehensive
cooperation between Astana and Doha.
"The parties noted the importance of developing the existing
strategic partnership and agreed to further strengthen mutually
beneficial cooperation in various areas," the statement of the
ministry says.
Diplomatic relations between Kazakhstan and Qatar,
established in 1993, have evolved into a robust strategic
partnership in recent years, driven by high-level political
engagement and substantial economic cooperation. A pivotal moment
came in February 2024 during President Kassym-Jomart Tokayev’s
state visit to Doha, when the two countries signed commercial
agreements valued at approximately $18 billion and formalized a
long-term strategic partnership covering priority sectors. Joint
investment projects now exceed $20 billion and focus on energy
infrastructure—including gas processing plants and pipeline
expansions - telecommunications, finance, agriculture, and
transport logistics along the Trans-Caspian International Transport
Route. Qatari foreign direct investment in Kazakhstan has grown
sharply, elevating Qatar among the country’s top investors, while
regular intergovernmental consultations and business dialogues
continue to expand trade, mutual tourism, and coordination in
international forums.
