BAKU, Azerbaijan, August 5. Istanbul Governor
Davut Gül visited the Consulate General of Tajikistan in Istanbul
on August 3, where he held talks with Tajik officials on
strengthening bilateral cooperation.
This was reflected in the statement by the Tajikistan's Foreign
Ministry.
The visit underscored the importance both sides attach to
maintaining regular dialogue and expanding practical cooperation at
the regional level as Tajikistan and Türkiye continue to develop
bilateral relations.
"The parties exchanged views on strengthening bilateral
cooperation," the ministry said in a statement.
Although the ministry did not disclose details of the
discussions, the meeting focused on issues of mutual interest and
opportunities to deepen engagement between Tajik and Turkish
institutions.
Istanbul, Türkiye's largest city and commercial center, plays an
important role in the country's international economic and
diplomatic relations. The Tajik Consulate General serves the
country's citizens in western Türkiye while also supporting
business contacts, cultural exchanges and other forms of bilateral
cooperation.
Tajikistan and Türkiye have steadily expanded cooperation in
recent years across trade, investment, transport, education and
tourism. Regular contacts between government officials and
diplomatic representatives have become an important mechanism for
advancing bilateral initiatives and addressing issues affecting
citizens and businesses.
The visit also highlighted the role of local authorities in
supporting international cooperation, particularly in cities that
host foreign diplomatic missions and large international business
communities.
According to the Foreign Ministry, the meeting reflected the
shared commitment of Tajikistan and Türkiye to maintaining
constructive dialogue and further strengthening friendly
relations.
