BAKU, Azerbaijan, August 5. The new resident of
the Sumgayit Industrial Park in Azerbaijan will implement a project
to produce special types of plywood.

This is reflected in the information released by the Economic
Zones Development Agency under the Ministry of Economy.

Thus, Samvud Group LLC has been granted the status of a resident
of the Sumgayit Industrial Park managed by the agency.

The project to produce special types of plywood, with an
investment value of 8.2 million manat ($4.8 million), is expected
to generate over 100 jobs.

The Sumgayit Industrial Park was established by Decree No. 548
of the President of Azerbaijan Ilham Aliyev dated December 21,
2011. The main goal of the park is to create favorable conditions
for the development of competitive industrial production based on
innovative and high technologies in the country, support
entrepreneurship, ensure sustainable development of the non-oil
sector, and improve employment of the population in the production
sector.

Currently, the total area of the Sumgayit Industrial Park is
640 hectares. The total investment volume in projects implemented
in the park reaches $3.94 billion, and it's planned to generate
6,134 permanent jobs.

Chairman of the Board of the Economic Zones Development Agency,
Seymur Adigozalov, said at a press conference on the agency's
activities for the past year and the upcoming tasks that 40
residents are operating in Sumgayit Industrial Park, which is
recognized as the largest industrial park in the South
Caucasus.

"In 2025, the park recorded sales of products totaling 2.2
billion manat, with exports contributing 1.1 billion manat ($650
million) to that figure. These metrics unequivocally highlight the
park's pivotal position in the broader industrial landscape and its
contributions to non-oil export dynamics," he remarked.

Adigozalov highlighted that in general, industrial zones
overseen by the Economic Zones Development Agency play an important
role in strengthening the country's industrial potential. According
to him, by the close of 2025, 138 residents and 13 non-residents
were registered in the industrial zones.

He stated that entrepreneurs have poured 7 billion manat ($4.1
billion) into projects, boasting a total investment portfolio that
surpasses 8.7 billion manat ($5.1 billion).

"At present, 82 enterprises are operating in the industrial zones,
generating over 9,700 permanent jobs. In the period from 2015 to
2025, industrial zones recorded product sales exceeding 19 billion
manat ($11.1 billion), of which more than 6 billion manat ($3.5
billion) accounted for exports. These figures demonstrate that
industrial zones have already evolved into a well-established and
sustainable industrial environment,” he said.

He added that economic zones are also becoming increasingly
attractive to foreign investors. Thus, if in 2016 only 10.4 million
manat ($6.1 million) of foreign investment was attracted, in 2025
alone this figure reached 87.9 million manat ($51.7 million).
According to him, these indicators clearly show that the
attractiveness of Azerbaijan's industrial zones for international
investors continues to grow steadily.
