BAKU, Azerbaijan, August 5. Kazakhstan’s
Baiterek Holding plans to expand its investment and loan portfolios
to 16.5 trillion tenge ($35.2 billion) as part of its long-term
development strategy.
According to the press service of the President of Kazakhstan,
this was stated by the Chairman of the Management Board Rustam
Karagoishin during his meeting with President Kassym-Jomart
Tokayev.
During the meeting, Karagoishin presented a report on the
implementation of the President’s instructions and the holding’s
key development priorities. According to him, Baiterek’s investment
and loan portfolios have already reached 14.3 trillion tenge ($30.5
billion), while net profit remains above 400 billion tenge ($853.7
million) annually.
The head of the holding also reported on the results of
Baiterek’s support programs. In 2025, assistance provided by the
holding helped 77,500 families secure housing, including 11,600
citizens on housing waiting lists.
Over the past year, Baiterek financed 77 major projects and
supported 27,400 small and medium-sized business projects. The
holding also provided assistance to 131 exporters, supported 7,200
agricultural producers in carrying out spring field works and
leased 11,400 units of agricultural machinery.
Karagoishin informed Tokayev about the ongoing transformation of
Baiterek and the development of a new long-term strategy aimed at
shifting the holding toward a proactive investment model. “The
project envisages a transition to a proactive investment holding
model focused on efficient asset management, creating conditions
for strong businesses and improving the quality of life of the
population,” the report said.
The meeting also covered investment projects planned for
implementation. By the end of 2026, 26 projects focused on import
substitution, export development and infrastructure are expected to
be submitted to the Investment Council for consideration.
Tokayev highlighted the importance of maintaining sustainable
economic growth, attracting long-term investment, strengthening
support for small and medium-sized enterprises and improving
housing affordability for citizens.
