BAKU, Azerbaijan, August 6. Uzbekistan and
South Korea discussed expanding cooperation in the mining and
geology sectors during a meeting involving senior government
officials.
This was reflected in the statement by the Ministry of Mining
Industry and Geology of Uzbekistan.
The talks brought together First Deputy Minister of Mining
Industry and Geology Farida Khamidova, South Korean Ambassador to
Uzbekistan Won Do-youn and Kang Sang-jin, director of the
Export-Import Bank of Korea (KEXIM) representative office in
Uzbekistan.
The parties reviewed the current state of the strategic
partnership between Uzbekistan and South Korea and exchanged views
on prospects for strengthening cooperation in mining, geological
exploration and related industries.
"The parties discussed prospects for the further development of
cooperation in the mining industry and geology," the ministry's
said in a statement.
The meeting also focused on accelerating preparations for
upcoming bilateral events and ensuring the continued implementation
of mutually beneficial initiatives between the two countries.
According to the ministry, the discussions reflected both sides'
commitment to maintaining close cooperation and advancing joint
projects in Uzbekistan's mining sector.
The meeting comes as Uzbekistan continues to deepen economic
ties with South Korea, one of its key investment and development
partners, while seeking to attract foreign expertise and financing
to support the modernization of its mining and geological
exploration industries.
