BAKU, Azerbaijan, August 6. Iran wants to
expand cooperation with India to increase bilateral trade turnover,
an Iranian official said.
Iranian Deputy Industry, Mining and Trade Minister for Trade
Affairs Mohammad Sadegh Mofatteh made the remarks during a meeting
with India's Deputy Commerce Minister Rajesh Agrawal, according to
Iran's Ministry of Industry, Mining and Trade.
Mofatteh said the Iranian and Indian markets have suitable
infrastructure for expanding trade and that closer cooperation
between the two countries is important for increasing bilateral
commerce.
"The Indian market is suitable for agricultural, industrial,
mining, electricity and construction products. Holding special
events in India could effectively contribute to the development of
cooperation," he said.
The Iranian deputy minister said organizing Iranian exhibitions
in four major Indian cities could help increase Iran's exports to
India and diversify the range of exported products.
Mofatteh also said that obtaining approval or a license from
Indian authorities for launching a direct air route between Iran's
Mashhad and India's Hyderabad could be important.
"Iranian airlines currently operate flights to India only to New
Delhi and Mumbai. The launch of a direct Mashhad-Hyderabad route
could help attract tourists, boost trade ties between Hyderabad and
Iran's northeastern provinces, including North Khorasan, Razavi
Khorasan and South Khorasan, and contribute to increasing trade
turnover," he said.
