Iran expects to sign an agreement with Oman on regulating maritime navigation in the Strait of Hormuz by the end of the day, Al Jazeera reported, citing sources.

According to the report, the two sides have one or two outstanding issues to resolve, which are not considered fundamentally difficult.

A key element of the negotiations is the agreement on shipping routes through the strategic waterway, the broadcaster said.

Sources added that Iranian authorities do not rule out announcing the deal as early as later on Thursday.
