BAKU, Azerbaijan, August 6. Azerbaijan is ready
to supply gas to Ukraine if necessary and is also considering the
possibility of using Ukraine’s underground gas storage facilities,
Azerbaijani Foreign Minister Jeyhun Bayramov said.


Bayramov made the remarks while answering journalists’ questions
at a joint press conference with Ukrainian Foreign Minister Andrii
Sybiha in Kyiv.


The minister said energy cooperation between Azerbaijan and
Ukraine has a strategic nature and is based on many years of
partnership. “Within the framework of our bilateral energy
dialogue, various projects, including opportunities to use existing
infrastructure, are regularly discussed. Ukraine’s extensive gas
storage capacity and underground storage infrastructure have
significant potential,” he said.


Bayramov stressed that Azerbaijan is ready to consider any
commercially viable opportunities that serve the interests of both
sides and have sound technical and economic justification.


He added that Azerbaijan’s gas reserves and export capabilities
continue to grow. “If the need arises, we will be pleased to supply
gas to our friendly Ukraine as well,” Bayramov said.


According to the minister, these issues remain under constant
consideration at the expert level.


Bayramov also addressed the issue of ensuring the security of
civilian and energy infrastructure in Ukraine, including facilities
operated under the SOCAR brand. “SOCAR is a company that has
successfully operated in Ukraine for many years and has continued
its activities even during the most difficult periods, providing
services to civilians,” Bayramov said.


He noted that air defense and military protection measures fall
within the authority of the Ukrainian state.


According to the minister, Azerbaijan’s focus is on ensuring the
uninterrupted operation of civilian facilities, delivering
humanitarian assistance and supporting the restoration of damaged
infrastructure. “Azerbaijan will continue providing humanitarian
and energy support to Ukraine in line with the needs of the
Ukrainian people,” Bayramov added.
