BAKU, Azerbaijan, August 6. Ukrainian President
Volodymyr Zelenskyy and Azerbaijani Foreign Minister Ceyhun
Bayramov discussed the current state and future development of the
Azerbaijan-Ukraine strategic partnership, as well as defense
cooperation, energy ties and regional security during a meeting in
Kyiv.
The meeting took place as part of Bayramov's official visit to
Ukraine, Azerbaijan's Foreign Ministry said in a post on its
official X account.
According to the ministry, the two sides reviewed the current
state of the Azerbaijan-Ukraine strategic partnership and prospects
for its further development.
They also stressed the importance of strengthening bilateral
strategic ties as Azerbaijan and Ukraine prepare to mark the 35th
anniversary of the establishment of diplomatic relations next
year.
Bayramov reaffirmed Azerbaijan's consistent support for
Ukraine's sovereignty and territorial integrity within its
internationally recognized borders.
Zelenskyy expressed his gratitude to President Ilham Aliyev and
the Azerbaijani government for the humanitarian assistance provided
to Ukraine.
Earlier, the Ukrainian president also shared details of the
meeting on his official Telegram channel.
“I received Azerbaijani Foreign Minister Ceyhun Bayramov. This
is the minister's first visit to Ukraine since Russia's full-scale
invasion. He began his trip in Irpin, where he visited a school, a
hospital and a rehabilitation center supported by Azerbaijan.
We are deeply grateful that, during these difficult days for our
country and our people, you came to Ukraine to express your
support. Thank you for your solidarity with our people,” Zelenskyy
wrote.
According to the Ukrainian president, the two sides also
discussed Russia's continued strikes against Ukraine, the security
situation in the Black Sea and the impact of Russia's blockade of
grain export routes.
“We discussed high-level diplomatic contacts, defense
cooperation, as well as economic cooperation in the energy, oil and
gas, and agricultural sectors. I am grateful to Azerbaijan for its
support, including energy and humanitarian assistance, and for
maintaining a constructive dialogue,” Zelenskyy added.
