BAKU, Azerbaijan, August 7. The amount of
overpayments to the state budget has approached 3 billion manat
($1.77 billion).
This is reported in the Ministry of Finance’s report for the
first half of 2026.
According to the report, the amount of funds payable to the
state budget totaled 4.05 billion manat ($2.3 billion). This figure
increased by 741.6 million manat ($436.4 million), or 22.4%,
compared to the beginning of the year, and by 556.7 million manat
($327.6 million), or 15.9%, compared to the same period last
year.
Overpayments to the state budget for the reporting period
totaled 2.8 billion manat ($1.6 billion). This amount is 460.4
million manat ($270.9 million), or 19.2%, higher than at the
beginning of 2026, and 142.3 million manat ($83.7 million), or
5.2%, higher than the same period last year.
At the same time, based on available information, state budget
expenditures for the period from January through June 2026 totaled
16.7 billion manat ($9.8 billion). This figure decreased by 320.1
million manat ($188.3 million), or 1.9%, compared to the
corresponding period of 2025.
Meanwhile, budget overpayments or overspending happen when
actual costs or disbursed funds go higher than the planned
financial limits. This can mean spending more than a project
allowance or accidentally paying an employee or vendor too much
money.
