BAKU, Azerbaijan, August 8. Turkmenistan and
Kuwait discussed prospects for expanding bilateral cooperation in
political, economic, and humanitarian areas.
This was reported by the Embassy of Turkmenistan in Tajikistan
following a meeting between Ambassador to Tajikistan Aymyrat
Gochmyradov and Kuwait's Ambassador to Tajikistan Mohammad Rashid
Al-Amiri in Dushanbe.
The sides noted that “Turkmen-Kuwaiti relations are consistently
strengthening thanks to the personal attention and support of the
leaders of the two states.”
Al-Amiri expressed appreciation to the Turkmen side for
assistance in organizing the safe transit of Kuwaiti citizens
through Turkmenistan amid the situation in the Middle East, the
report says.
The sides also noted that the recent opening of the Kuwaiti
Embassy in Dushanbe creates additional opportunities to expand
bilateral cooperation.
They exchanged views on regional and international issues and
confirmed their interest in maintaining constructive dialogue and
further strengthening bilateral ties.
For reference, Turkmenistan and Kuwait established diplomatic
relations in 1995. Their bilateral ties have developed through
political contacts and economic cooperation, with the two countries
signing a package of agreements and memorandums in 2018 covering
trade, economic and technical cooperation, investment and
energy-related areas.
The economic agenda gained additional momentum in February 2026,
when a delegation from the Chamber of Commerce and Industry of
Turkmenistan visited the Kuwait Chamber of Commerce and Industry
for the first time. The sides discussed expanding trade and mutual
investment, developing direct business contacts, logistics, food
security, industrial cooperation, and energy and petrochemicals.
This provides a broader economic context for the latest diplomatic
contacts between the two countries.
