BAKU, Azerbaijan, October 21. Uzbekistan and
Türkiye’s LimakPort Iskenderun have discussed expanding logistics
cooperation to improve the handling, storage and transportation of
Uzbekistan’s foreign trade cargo, including through the use of port
infrastructure and refrigerated container facilities at a meeting
on October 20 in Tashkent.
This was reflected in the statement by the state Customs
Committee of the Republic of Uzbekistan, following a meeting
between Uzbekistan’s Customs Committee and a delegation from
LimakPort Iskenderun.
The meeting followed earlier negotiations between K. Alijonova,
the Customs Committee’s representative in Türkiye, and LimakPort
officials.
During the talks, the sides reviewed the port’s logistics
capacity, cargo handling and storage services, and opportunities to
expand cooperation in transporting Uzbekistan’s import and export
shipments.
LimakPort representatives presented the port’s infrastructure
and container-handling capabilities, including its direct
connection to the railway network, warehouse facilities and
services for refrigerated containers.
The port has 685 electrical connection points for refrigerated
containers, allowing temperature-controlled storage and
transportation of goods that require strict compliance with
temperature conditions, the presentation showed.
Additionally, the sides discussed exploring ways for Uzbek
foreign trade companies to use LimakPort’s logistics services and
establishing practical cooperation with relevant organizations.
LimakPort Iskenderun, operated by Türkiye’s Limak Group, is one
of the major container terminals in the Eastern Mediterranean. The
port handled 588,107 twenty-foot equivalent units (TEUs) in 2025,
up 12% from the previous year, with 645 container ship calls. Its
infrastructure includes a railway connection, warehouse facilities
and specialized services for refrigerated containers, supporting
the handling of a range of import and export cargo.
