BAKU, Azerbaijan, August 11. The number of
active value-added tax (VAT) taxpayers in Azerbaijan rose by
5.8%.


According to information from the State Tax Service under the
Ministry of Economy, the number of active taxpayers increased by
3.4% from the beginning of the year to 888,320 as of Aug. 1,
2026.


The number of active VAT taxpayers rose by 5.8% during the
period to 61,805.


The number of active business entities (facilities) increased by
4.5% to 243,263 as of the same date, according to the agency.


The State Tax Service said that in January-July 2026, $6.749
billion in taxes was collected for Azerbaijan’s state budget
through the agency, exceeding the forecast by $499 million.


Compared with the same period in 2025, tax revenues increased by
$537.2 million, or about 8.6%.







Tax revenues from the non-oil and gas sector totaled $4.993
billion, exceeding the forecast by $148.1 million. Compared with
the same period last year, revenues from the sector increased by
$528.5 million, or 11.8%, the agency said.


Mandatory state social insurance contributions totaled $2.375
billion in January-July 2026, exceeding the forecast by $134.9
million. Of this amount, contributions from non-budget
organizations totaled more than $1.581 billion.


During the reporting period, unemployment insurance
contributions reached $84.4 million, exceeding the forecast by $4
million. Nearly $64.8 million of the total came from non-budget
organizations, the State Tax Service said.


Mandatory health insurance contributions totaled nearly $356.9
million, exceeding the forecast by $9.2 million. Of this amount,
about $236.7 million was provided by non-budget organizations.
