BAKU, Azerbaijan, August 12. Iran has never
violated international law and has always sought to improve
relations with neighboring countries.
This was announced in a statement by the Iranian president's
press office, citing Masoud Pezeshkian's remarks made today during
a phone call with Japanese Prime Minister Sanae Takaichi.
"Iran has never wanted tension in the region. The U.S. and
Israel have undermined peace and stability in the region by
carrying out military attacks on Iran, killing many civilians, the
Supreme Leader, and schoolchildren, and destroying non-military
facilities," he noted.
The Iranian president expressed hope that peace and stability
will be restored and war will be prevented in the region by Japan's
diplomatic efforts.
During the conversation, Takaichi also stated that Tokyo
supports diplomatic means to end the war, which is in the long-term
interests of Iran and the region.
She noted that Japan welcomes the progress of discussions
between Iran and Oman regarding the Strait of Hormuz and expressed
hope that the passage through the Strait of Hormuz will be restored
as soon as possible with the successful conclusion of the
discussions.
The Japanese Prime Minister asked the Iranian President to use
Iran's influence to prevent escalation in the Bab el-Mandeb.
In the conversation, the heads of state of the two countries
stressed the importance of developing bilateral relations and
continuing dialogue.
