BAKU, Azerbaijan, August 13. Iran is calling on
the U.S. to exercise caution regarding disinformation.
This was stated by Iranian Foreign Minister Seyyed Abbas
Araghchi in a social media post on “X.”
“The U.S. has long faced miscalculations due to a lack of
information. The war against Iran is a prime example of this. Now
they are making even more serious miscalculations regarding the
Strait of Hormuz. Disinformation is worse than fake news. Be
careful,” he wrote.
Meanwhile, a new round of tensions in relations between the U.S.
and Iran began on July 8. On that day, for the first time since the
signing of the memorandum between Washington and Tehran, the U.S.
Armed Forces launched several waves of strikes against Iranian
territory, stating that they were in response to an attack on a
merchant ship in the Strait of Hormuz. On the same day, U.S.
President Donald Trump announced the termination of the ceasefire
with Iran. In response, Tehran began striking U.S. facilities
located in Bahrain, Jordan, Qatar, Kuwait, the UAE, and Oman. The
Iranian side claims that the Strait of Hormuz is currently
closed.
Negotiations are underway between Iran and Oman regarding the
Strait of Hormuz. Reports indicate that some progress has been made
in these negotiations. The Iranian side notes that even if an
agreement is reached with Oman, it will not lead to the opening of
the Strait of Hormuz. According to Iran, the strait will be opened
only after the U.S. takes several specific steps.
