BAKU, Azerbaijan, August 14. Serbia and
Kazakhstan discussed prospects for strengthening bilateral
relations, with particular attention to economic and security
cooperation, the Serbian Ministry of Internal Affairs said.
The further development of bilateral ties was discussed during a
meeting between Serbia's Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of
Internal Affairs Ivica Dačić and Kazakhstan's Deputy Minister of
Foreign Affairs Alibek Kuantyrov.
The sides noted that political dialogue and high-level contacts
between Serbia and Kazakhstan have intensified in recent years.
Dačić also highlighted the importance of implementing agreements
reached during Serbian President Aleksandar Vučić's visit to Astana
in February 2026.
As co-chair of the Intergovernmental Commission for Trade and
Economic Cooperation between Serbia and Kazakhstan, Dačić
emphasized the importance of the commission's work and the
implementation of agreed measures.
The sides also discussed opportunities to expand cooperation in
other areas of mutual interest and highlighted EXPO 2027 in Serbia
as an additional opportunity to strengthen economic ties.
"Dačić thanked Kazakhstan for its principled stance regarding
the territorial integrity and sovereignty of Serbia, while during
the meeting it was assessed that good political relations, regular
high-level contacts and the work of the Intergovernmental
Commission represent a solid foundation for further deepening
cooperation between the two countries", the ministry said.
Meanwhile, during an expanded meeting between Serbian President
Aleksandar Vučić and Kazakh President Kassym-Jomart Tokayev in
Astana on February 27, Kazakhstan and Serbia signed 10 bilateral
agreements aimed at strengthening cooperation in the fields of
healthcare, justice, digital development, culture, education, and
investment.
