BAKU, Azerbaijan, August 14. Uzbekistan and
China discussed expanding strategic energy cooperation, including
new investment projects, oil and gas technology partnerships and
potential long-term supplies of Jet A-1 aviation fuel from
China.
This was reflected in the statement by the Uzbekneftgaz,
following a meeting between Uzbekneftegaz Chairman Abdugani
Sanginov and a delegation led by Yu Jun, China’s Ambassador to
Uzbekistan.
The sides reviewed the development of bilateral cooperation in
the energy sector, ongoing joint investment projects and promising
areas for further collaboration.
Uzbekneftegaz said it is currently implementing a number of
projects with major Chinese companies, including CNPC, CCDC, BGP,
Jereh and Honghua, covering geological exploration, well
construction, oilfield services and the introduction of advanced
technologies.
A key topic of the meeting was Uzbekistan’s efforts to diversify
its aviation fuel supplies and establish a more stable fuel supply
system. The sides discussed the possibility of securing long-term
supplies of Jet A-1 aviation fuel from China.
The parties also considered strengthening embassy support for
establishing direct cooperation between Uzbekneftegaz and China
National Aviation Fuel Group (CNAF) and Sinopec.
“Uzbekistan and China are ready to expand mutually beneficial
cooperation, implement new investment and technology projects and
bring their strategic energy partnership to a new level,” the Uzbek
side said.
The proposed aviation fuel cooperation could help Uzbekistan
diversify its sources of Jet A-1 supplies while strengthening links
with major Chinese energy and aviation fuel companies.
The broader engagement also reflects the growing role of Chinese
companies in Uzbekistan’s oil and gas sector, particularly in
exploration, drilling, oilfield services and technology
deployment.
The sides expressed their readiness to continue practical
cooperation and work on new investment and technological
initiatives in the energy sector.
