BAKU, Azerbaijan, August 14. Uzbekistan’s
Uzmetkombinat and China’s Jiangsu SOHO Holdings Group discussed
opportunities to expand exports, enter new markets, diversify
logistics routes and develop joint investment projects.
This was reflected in a statement by Uzmetkombinat following a
meeting between a delegation from the company led by Chairman
Bahodir Abdullaev and Ding Hai, head of Jiangsu SOHO Holdings
Group.
The sides discussed increasing export volumes, entering new
international markets, making more effective use of logistics
infrastructure and implementing joint investment projects.
SOHO Holdings has established trade and economic ties with more
than 160 countries and territories, providing a broad network that
could support Uzmetkombinat’s efforts to expand its export
footprint.
Companies within the holding coordinate the operation of
China-Europe and China-Asia freight trains passing through Jiangsu
province. The network currently connects nearly 80 international
stations across 26 Eurasian countries through 26 international rail
routes.
These logistics links could provide Uzmetkombinat with
additional opportunities to enter new foreign markets, improve
product deliveries and diversify international transportation
routes.
“The logistics capabilities of SOHO Holdings could become an
important platform for expanding Uzmetkombinat’s export footprint
and improving access to promising external markets,” the Uzbek side
said.
The discussions come as Uzbekistan’s steel industry seeks to
expand its presence in international markets and strengthen its
export infrastructure.
SOHO Holdings is one of the major state-owned holding companies
in Jiangsu province, with nearly 400 enterprises operating within
the group.
In 2025, the holding’s total import and export operations
reached $12.2 billion, underscoring its significant role in
international trade and logistics.
The talks also highlighted opportunities to combine
Uzmetkombinat’s industrial production capacity with SOHO Holdings’
international trading and logistics network.
The parties agreed to continue exploring opportunities for
export expansion, logistics cooperation and joint investment
initiatives.
