BAKU, Azerbaijan, August 14. Electricity supply
in Kazakhstan has been fully restored along the Kazakhstan
Electricity Grid Operating Company (KEGOC) network, the country's
Ministry of Energy announced.
As reported, regional electricity supply companies are currently
reconnecting individual consumers in stages, and electricity supply
is expected to be fully restored in the near future.
"At the same time, information circulated in some public groups
claiming that power outages in Uzbekistan were caused by an
accident in Kazakhstan's power system is not true," the ministry
said.
Earlier today, power supply disruptions were reported in several
regions of Kazakhstan, particularly in Almaty and Almaty
region.
KEGOC reported that at 2:37 p.m. local time on August 14, a
technological disturbance occurred in Kazakhstan's Unified Power
System, resulting in the disconnection of the 500-kV Agadyr-Ulken
L-5300 and L-5320 power lines, as well as the Aktogay-Taldykorgan
L-5400 line.
As a result, the southern zone of Kazakhstan's Unified Power
System and the Central Asian Unified Power System switched to
isolated operation.
According to preliminary operational data, the disturbance was
caused by a sudden increase in power flow from the Central Asian
power system. As a result, electricity supply restrictions for
consumers in Kazakhstan amounted to approximately 2,810 MW.
