Hungarian Prime Minister Péter Magyar has announced that András Baka, who was elected Hungary’s new president by the National Assembly on August 11, has officially taken office.
Sharing a post on X, he wished the president success in his work, good health and as much humanity as possible, Caliber.Az reports.
“God bless Hungary!” he noted.
András Baka worked at the European Court of Human Rights from 1991 to 2008.
In 2009, the lawyer became president of Hungary’s Supreme Court.
He served in the position for two years before being dismissed following a constitutional reform.
Baka said his dismissal was linked to his criticism of the judicial reform introduced by Viktor Orbán’s government.
