BAKU, Azerbaijan, October 19. Iran will make
every effort to continue its cooperation with Russia within the
framework of BRICS, the Shanghai Cooperation Organization, and the
Eurasian Economic Union, Iranian Foreign Minister Seyed Abbas
Araghchi said at a joint press conference with Russian Foreign
Minister Sergey Lavrov held in Tehran on October 19.

“Iran hopes that today’s talks will contribute to strengthening
relations between the two countries, as well as to enhancing
stability and security in the region. Iran and Russia can play an
important and effective role in ensuring regional stability,” he
noted.

Araghchi stated that close consultations are underway between
Iran and Russia. Today, the two sides exchanged views on issues
related to the Persian Gulf, West Asia, the Caucasus, and Europe,
as well as on discussions between Iran and the U.S. and
developments in Ukraine.

According to the minister, the common position of Iran and
Russia is that there is no military solution to regional problems,
and they must be resolved through diplomatic and political
means.

The Iranian minister stated that the parties had discussed
practical ways to develop economic, trade, political, and cultural
cooperation between Iran and Russia.

The minister stressed that economic cooperation between the two
countries is progressing very successfully, and there are no
serious or significant obstacles to further strengthening their
economic ties.
