Iraqi Parliament Speaker Haibat al-Halbousi posted a photo showing a map in the background labelled the “Arabian Gulf.”

Social media users and regional observers viewed the post as a symbolic response to Iranian Parliament Speaker Mohammad Bagher Ghalibaf, Caliber.Az reports, citing Arabic media.

A day earlier, the Iranian speaker had shared a photo of himself standing in front of a map labelled the “Persian Gulf.”

The indirect dispute over the name of the body of water came less than 24 hours after the two politicians met in Baghdad.
