Kazakhstan faces difficult challenges to join the ranks of advanced nations, President Kassym-Jomart Tokayev said in an address to citizens ahead of the first elections to the country’s new unicameral Kurultai.
The president noted that the upcoming vote would be a historic moment, would open a new page in the history of Kazakhstan and become a starting point for large-scale reforms, Caliber.Az reports, citing Kazakh media.
According to him, the election campaign had demonstrated changes in the country’s political landscape.
“New faces have emerged, and interesting ideas have appeared. This is an important sign of the awakening of our nation’s energy,” he stressed.
He also highlighted the participation of young people and professional communities.
“I am particularly pleased that young people and entrepreneurs have joined public discussions. This is a direct result of our reforms aimed at improving political culture,” Tokayev stated.
Addressing the international context, he also said amid unprecedented geopolitical tensions, they must firmly and consistently implement the strategy of transforming Kazakhstan into a developed state.
Concluding his address, Tokayev urged citizens to vote: “Our future depends on the conscious choice of millions of citizens. I call on everyone, especially young people, to participate in the elections and contribute to the development of the country.”
