President Ilham Aliyev of Azerbaijan has congratulated football club Sabah on securing a place in the main stage of the UEFA Champions League.
In a post on X, Aliyev praised the club for its “magnificent victory” and said it was particularly encouraging that such a major achievement had been accomplished by a recently established team in a short period of time.
He said Azerbaijani clubs had reached the main stage of the world’s leading club competition for the second consecutive year, describing this as evidence of the country’s progress and its position as a sporting nation.
“I wish Sabah further victories and success in its upcoming matches!,” Aliyev wrote.
