Kyrgyz President Sadyr Japarov has signed a decree providing for the 5th People’s Kurultai to be held in Bishkek on December 18.
Under the decree, 700 delegates will be elected to participate in the national gathering. It also establishes quotas for the distribution of delegate seats, approves the composition of the organizing committee and introduces provisional regulations governing the Kurultai, Caliber.Az reports, citing Kyrgyz media.
The procedure for electing delegates will be based on rules developed and approved by the National Council of the 4th People’s Kurultai.
The organizing committee has been tasked with overseeing the delegate election process, taking the necessary organizational decisions and ensuring the Kurultai is conducted effectively. Representatives of state agencies, local government bodies and experts will be involved in preparations for the event.
The Ministry of Internal Affairs has been instructed to maintain public order and ensure security during the election of delegates at the local level.
The presidential decree will take effect on the day of its official publication.
