Yerevan may not have enough time to fully prepare for the upcoming COP17 international conference due to delays in preparatory work, the city’s mayor, Tigran Avinyan, said.

During a working meeting, Aneta Babayan, director of the State Non-Commercial Organisation “Office for the Implementation of Investment Programmes for the Development of Yerevan,” said a winner had not yet been selected in the relevant tender but assured officials that “certain solutions” would be found, Caliber.Az reports per Armenian media

Avinyan criticised the approach, saying that rushed decisions were worse than failing to act.

The 17th Conference of the Parties to the UN Convention on Biological Diversity (COP17) is scheduled to take place in Yerevan from October 19 to 30, 2026.
