Azerbaijan and Iran discussed progress on bilateral economic, transport and other projects, including the completion of the Aghband-Kalala road bridge, the Azerbaijani Cabinet of Ministers said on September 7.
Azerbaijani Deputy Prime Minister Shahin Mustafayev and Iranian Minister of Roads and Urban Development Farzaneh Sadegh, co-chairs of the countries' State Commission on Economic, Trade and Humanitarian Cooperation, held a telephone call, the cabinet said, according to local media.
The officials reviewed the implementation of agreements reached at the commission's 17th meeting, held in Baku in February 2026.
They noted cooperation in trade and the economy, transport and transit, energy, water and other areas, and discussed the progress of projects.
The sides also discussed measures needed to complete work at the cargo terminal in Astara.
