BAKU, Azerbaijan, October 20. Kazakhstan’s
KazTransOil has completed the tie-in of a realigned section of the
Pavlodar-Shymkent main oil pipeline at kilometre 822, where it
crosses the Moiynty-Kyzylzhar railway line under construction, the
company said.
The railway project aims to develop Kazakhstan’s rail network,
improve freight transport efficiency and expand the country’s
transit capacity. As the railway alignment crosses the existing oil
pipeline, a section had to be realigned to meet technical and
safety requirements for the reliable operation of both
infrastructure systems.
As part of the project, a 1,006-meter-long section of pipeline
with a diameter of 820 millimeters was constructed in accordance
with Kazakhstan’s applicable regulatory requirements.
Pipes with increased wall thickness and enhanced external
anti-corrosion coating were used to ensure the pipeline’s
structural strength and long-term durability. At the railway
crossing, the pipeline was enclosed in a steel protective casing to
provide additional protection against external impacts.
The project ensures that the realigned section of the oil
pipeline system is technically ready for operation alongside the
developing railway infrastructure. It also supports the reliable
transportation of oil while accommodating the construction of new
transport facilities.
KazTransOil is Kazakhstan's national oil pipeline operator,
providing oil transportation services for the domestic market,
transit, and exports. The company's main oil pipeline network spans
5,196 kilometers. Oil transportation is supported by 36 pumping
stations, 68 oil heating furnaces, and oil storage facilities with
a total capacity of 1.426 million cubic meters.
