BAKU, Azerbaijan, August 7. Armenian Prime
Minister Nikol Pashinyan stated the need to remove restrictions
that hinder the full functioning of the Eurasian Economic Union
(EAEU) common market.
He made these remarks at a meeting of the Eurasian
Intergovernmental Council in expanded format.
According to Pashinyan, strengthening cooperation with EAEU
member states remains one of Armenia’s foreign policy and foreign
economic priorities.
He noted that the country continues to advocate for adherence to
the principles underlying the Union, including the free movement of
goods, services, capital, and labor. “Unfortunately, in practice,
these principles are not fully implemented. Certain restrictions
and administrative measures continue to hinder the full functioning
of the common market, reducing the predictability of business
conditions and the effectiveness of integration processes,”
Pashinyan said.
According to him, any measures that may affect the access of
member states’ goods and services to the common market must be
adopted in accordance with EAEU law, based on agreed-upon
procedures and cooperation between the competent authorities.
The Prime Minister of Armenia emphasized that unresolved issues
within the Union become a common problem for all member states. “We
need to promptly remove emerging barriers, prevent the
deterioration of trade and economic relations within the EAEU,
minimize reputational and business risks, and consistently
strengthen mutual trust,” he said.
Pashinyan also noted that a number of the EAEU’s strategic goals
have not yet been fully achieved, so it is necessary to focus not
only on new initiatives but also on the practical implementation of
decisions that have already been adopted.
