BAKU, Azerbaijan, August 7. Kazakhstan will
host an international forum on enhanced oil recovery (EOR)
technologies in Astana on August 26–28, 2026, bringing together
government officials, oil and gas companies, scientists and
international experts.
This was announced by the press service of the Ministry of
Energy of Kazakhstan.
According to the ministry, the Kazakhstan Forum on Enhanced Oil
Recovery, held under the auspices of the Ministry of Energy, will
focus on developing practical solutions and a unified approach to
the introduction of modern EOR methods in the country.
The event aims to promote international technology cooperation
and establish long-term approaches to increasing oil recovery rates
from mature fields. "During the three-day forum, participants will
discuss advanced gas, chemical, thermal and combined EOR methods,
digitalization of oil production processes, localization of
oilfield equipment and chemical reagent production, improvements to
the regulatory framework and mechanisms for state support of EOR
projects," the statement of the ministry says.
The forum’s agenda will include expert sessions on developing
methodological recommendations in the field of enhanced oil
recovery, technical presentations by leading international
specialists and a roundtable organized by the Ministry of Energy on
the development of EOR technologies.
Participants are also expected to sign the Astana Declaration
and a Roadmap for the development of enhanced oil recovery
technologies for 2027–2030. The event is expected to bring together
representatives of major oil and gas companies, research institutes
and universities from Kazakhstan, Europe, the Middle East, China,
the United States and other countries.
The forum will serve as a platform for exchanging international
experience, discussing engineering practices and strengthening
cooperation between the government, business and scientific
community to improve the development of Kazakhstan’s mature oil
fields.
