BAKU, Azerbaijan, August 7. Uzbekistan and Iran
discussed expanding cooperation in agriculture, including joint
investment projects, agricultural technology and trade.
This was reflected in the statement by the Uzbek Ministry of
Agriculture following talks between Agriculture Minister Ibrohim
Abdurahmonov and Iranian Ambassador Mohammad Ali Eskandari.
The meeting focused on broadening bilateral cooperation in the
agricultural sector and identifying new areas for joint projects
aimed at strengthening economic ties and improving food
security.
"The parties expressed their readiness to continue practical
cooperation in the agreed areas, emphasizing the importance of
agricultural cooperation for strengthening economic relations and
promoting innovative solutions," the ministry said in a
statement.
The sides reviewed opportunities to cooperate in agricultural
mechanization, agrarian science and innovation, as well as the
introduction of modern farming equipment and advanced technologies
in Uzbekistan.
The discussions also covered prospects for expanding
Uzbekistan's exports of mineral fertilizers and legumes to Iran,
alongside the implementation of joint investment projects in seed
production, aquaculture and livestock breeding.
In addition, the two sides explored opportunities to organize
training and practical programs for agricultural specialists,
drawing on Iran's experience in the sector and promoting the
adoption of modern agricultural technologies in Uzbekistan.
According to the ministry, the talks underscored both countries'
interest in strengthening long-term cooperation through technology
transfer, investment and knowledge exchange.
The meeting reflects Uzbekistan's broader efforts to diversify
its agricultural partnerships, expand exports of agricultural
products and inputs, and attract investment and advanced
technologies to support the modernization of the country's
agribusiness sector.
