BAKU, Azerbaijan, August 22. Turkmenistan's
Hazar Logistics sees rail routes through Akina and Turghundi as the
most promising links for expanding transport cooperation with
Afghanistan.


The company made the assessment in an exclusive response to
Trend's questions
about the outcomes of its August 6 meeting with a Herat delegation
and prospects for developing bilateral logistics routes.


"Hazar Logistik considers railway routes passing through the
Akina and Turghundi border crossings, which connect Afghanistan
with Turkmenistan's transport infrastructure, to be the most
promising," the company said.


According to Hazar Logistik, these routes could connect
Afghanistan with Turkmenistan's railway network, the International
Seaport of Turkmenbashi and international transport corridors.


"Of particular importance are routes integrated with
Turkmenistan's railway network, the International Seaport of
Turkmenbashi and international transport corridors, creating
additional opportunities for cargo delivery to the Caspian region,
the Caucasus, Europe and other destinations," the company
noted.


The company said potential cargo flows could include several
categories of goods as trade ties between the two countries
develop.


"With further development of trade and economic cooperation,
potential cargo flows could include construction materials, oil and
gas and industrial equipment, agricultural and food products,
mineral fertilizers, petroleum products, containerized cargo and
other goods," Hazar Logistik said.


Hazar Logistik also considers the Afghan direction promising for
the further development of international logistics, although it did
not provide specific cargo growth forecasts.


"Hazar Logistik considers the Afghan direction one of the
promising areas for further development of international
logistics," the company added.







According to the company, future cargo growth will depend on the
development of foreign trade ties, joint infrastructure projects,
market demand and the formation of sustainable logistics
chains.


The company also highlighted Turkmenistan's potential as a
transit link connecting Afghanistan and Central Asia with the
Caspian region and international markets.


"Thanks to its favorable geographical location and consistent
state policy aimed at developing international transport corridors,
Turkmenistan has significant potential as an important transit link
between Central Asia, Afghanistan, the Caspian region and
international markets," the company said.


According to Hazar Logistik, the August 6 meeting with the Herat
delegation resulted in an agreement to continue professional
dialogue, exchange necessary information and assess potential areas
of cooperation.


The company said the next stage would involve further
consultations and work on organizational and technical aspects of
possible joint projects, including logistics solutions, transport
routes and cooperation mechanisms in accordance with international
conventions and Turkmenistan's legislation.
