Transit traffic between Azerbaijan and Tajikistan increased by 17% in the first eight months of 2026, Azerbaijan’s Minister of Digital Development and Transport Rashad Nabiyev has stated at an event in Baku, Azerbaijan, marking the 35th anniversary of Tajikistan’s Independence Day.

Nabiyev said bilateral trade turnover grew by 84% in 2025 and the upward trend has continued this year, Caliber.Az reports, citing local media.

“Compared with the same period in 2025, our trade turnover increased by 31% in the first seven months of this year,” he added.

According to him, cooperation in transport and cargo transportation has been expanding year by year, and digital development cooperation is advancing alongside transport ties, with many Azerbaijani companies currently providing services in Tajikistan.

“Alongside cooperation in the economic and transport sectors, we are also successfully developing cultural and friendly ties between our countries,” Nabiyev emphasised.
