Kazakhstan is developing a new communications satellite, KazSat-3R, as part of efforts to strengthen the country’s space infrastructure and ensure the reliable operation of its national satellite communications system.
The new satellite is expected to replace KazSat-3, which currently serves as a key component of Kazakhstan’s satellite communications network, Kazinform reports.
At the same time, Kazakhstan is planning to establish an international constellation of nine Earth remote-sensing satellites by 2030.
The planned constellation will comprise six Kazakh satellites, along with satellites from Mongolia, the Republic of the Congo and Nigeria.
According to Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Artificial Intelligence and Digital Development Zhaslan Madiyev, the constellation could eventually be expanded to 14 satellites through cooperation with additional international partners.
